Overview
This week, our team, The Fantastic 4, started laying the groundwork for the term project. This included setting up a GitHub repository, a Trello board, a shared Google drive folder, a Wix site, deciding on what story we would work on, and determining the roles of everyone in the group.
Challenges
The main struggle that our group faced this week was deciding what story we would use for the term project. Our group was torn on whether or not it would be a good idea to work on Story 1 (Canoe Journey) due to its potentially large scope, likely requiring more work than the other two options. After some discussion, we decided that we would work on Story 1 and plan to talk to the students about reducing the story's scope to make it more feasible.
Successes
I believe our biggest success this week was our group formation and project setup. To start, the skillsets of our group members are fairly diverse, making the process of determining each member's role fairly effortless and allowing for each of us to take on a role best suited to our strengths. Additionally, getting things set up, like GitHub or Wix, to begin work on the project was equally easy with no real problems during the process.
Next Steps
As mentioned earlier, our most important next step will be assessing ways in which the story we have decided to work on can be reduced in scope. This will need to be done through discussion with the students that created the story idea in our upcoming Wednesday class.
